Happy new year!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been slightly busy since September with my graduate program, internship, and part-time job. So I am thrilled that one, I was able to go on a vacation with my family (I am very lucky, I know), and two, that I was able to enjoy a b-r-e-a-k from my normal life. It was so fun to be home for Christmas and then go to the Caribbean with my family and Jon. And in case you missed last year, we went to Colombia with Jon’s family, which you can read about herehere, and here.

We rented an Airbnb since there were 7 of us, which ended up being great because we had a lot of privacy. We made our own meals, lounged by the pool, took walks to the blowholes, and only made excursions when we felt like it. It was an incredibly relaxing 5 days together–I actually can’t remember the last time I felt this way! (Definitely a different feeling from our usual busy lives in Boston.) I feel so grateful to have been able to come here with my family.

The following will be a photo dump of our time there, since everything was so picturesque, and I couldn’t stop taking photos. I probably should have split up these photos in multiple posts, oh well!

This was our view from the back of the house! We stayed on the side of the island known as “The Blowholes”, so while there wasn’t much of a beach on this side, it was really amazing to see the ocean hit the rocks and shoot a few feet in the air. It was gorgeous.

This was our first sunset there, and I think it was one of the prettiest. My mom and I sat on the beach chairs and watched the sun disappear into the ocean.

My cute sister and brother-in-law. This pool was so amazing and refreshing to escape the heat.

My mom is one of the best swimmers I know! We kept joking during the trip that she was a water pup, haha.

My sister and I stood on our husbands’ shoulders to get this picture, and I didn’t realize until looking at it later that my brother-in-law’s head is mostly under the water… oops.

One of the blowholes up close–I wish I could have caught one of those in full action! It would get way higher than even in this picture.

These pictures above show a little bit of the blowhole magic! It was so fun and soothing to watch the waves crash.

We took a walk from our house to this place where we could see the blowholes up close, it was so fun! We all came away pretty salty, too.

My sister Abigail and I woke up one morning to come to the same place to watch the sunrise! My mom had done that the morning before so we decided it would be worth it. It was stunning.

We drove one of the days to a turtle sanctuary! It was fun to walk around and see all the different kinds of animals they had (turtles, crocodiles, a few different kinds of birds, etc.).

One of the days we went snorkeling and stopped at a stingray bar. The snorkeling was not the best snorkeling we’ve done, just because it was super windy and wavy. BUT the stingrays were awesome! We got a few shots with the stingrays and the family which made for a great memory.

Below the Airbnb we rented was a path to explore these rocks by the blowholes. We went at sunset which was beautiful!

And that’s a wrap! It was such a perfect vacation for our family. We also cooked dinner every night, watched movies, played card games, and hung at the house. We kept talking about how nice it was to all be together. We missed my brother and sister-in-law, but hopefully we’ll get some time with them this year to make up for it.

I still need to share photos from our trip to Philadelphia and Japan! I am very behind. We went to Japan for Thanksgiving and spent a weekend in Philadelphia for a work conference. So be on the look out for those soon.
