cerro tzankujil

This weekend I went with some friends to San Marcos, one of the communities around Lake Atitlán. We visited the nature reserve there called Tzankujil where we enjoyed the nice weather. It’s been raining for the last 3 weeks straight, so this week was a nice break because we got some sun and a few really clear days. Having even a few days of sun was so nice and makes me a much happier person. Needless to say, we took advantage of it on Saturday and it was a perfect day to be out!

At the nature reserve, they have a rocky area where you can set up and jump off of a deck into the lake. It was so much fun! Just one of those things where you can’t think about it too much and commit to jumping in the water. We had a blast and spent most of the afternoon at the reserve.

If you are ever visiting Guatemala and find yourself by Lake Atitlán, I would highly recommend coming to the nature reserve in San Marcos. It’s the perfect way to spend a nice, sunny weekend.

Anytime there is sun around our house, I feel the need to document it so I can look back when it’s raining for days on end.

Jumping off of the deck. Not the most graceful jump, but hey, I did it!

I never get tired of this view. I always take photos in hopes that it will capture the beauty of the volcanoes but never feel that photos can do it justice. You just have to visit to see for yourself!
